Excerpt:
“The more you know, the more dangerous Mythrin becomes. Really I think people are testing to see if you are strong enough to cope.” At this point she ran out of room to write. She stopped only to rub viciously at the board.
“They’ll come after you if you know about them.” Erin thought about this as her eyes travelled over the words. She could only assume that by ‘they’, Red meant the creatures in the cloaks.
“Are you willing to fight?” Erin looked up at Red who stared at her intently.
“I don’t think anybody is ready to fight when they don’t know what they’re up against.”
“Wise choice.”
Erin had never been a particularly cowardly person. She could handle spiders, snakes, the dark, heights, water and all of the usual business. She was willing to try new things and she seldom chickened out. However she wasn’t too keen on diving into the unknown when it was apparently this dangerous. Untraceable people calling her on the phone and speaking to her in creepy ways was enough for her. She was willing to just go back to her old home and leave Mythrin.
Suddenly, Red slipped off the wall and began walking down the street. Erin stared after her, pausing for a second.
“Where are you going?” she called out in confusion. Red ignored her and continued to walk. Erin jogged to keep up and walked by her side. As suddenly as she had started walking, she stopped to write again.
“I’m taking you to see somebody very important.” The board explained and with that, she wiped it clean and slipped it into her pocket; fastening the button with a smooth click.
