Synopsis:
In an AU world, Alex gave up his dreams to become a professional athlete and went to college in New York instead. (This is a story of how he still found D and managed to get his heart broken over and over again, and hope to God it's a happy ending.)
Excerpt:
Alex shifted away from him and opted to lean against the wall instead. “I’m not drunk.”
“Tell me that again tomorrow when you wake up,” D said, guiding Alex into the elevator.
“You could have just let me leave with her.”
“I said I’d look out for you. She’s not good news, Alex.”
“You know her,” Alex asked but came out as a statement.
D looked up to watch as the light flashed through the floor indicators while keeping tabs on Alex next to him at the same time. “Yes, and like I said, she’s bad news.”
“You should have just let me go. Gotta make my own mistakes.”
“Not with this one. Next time. Next time I’ll let you make your own mistakes,” D told him, ready to catch him the moment the elevator doors slid open on their floor.
“Mm, ‘kay,” Alex mumbled and stumbled into D. “Making my mistake now,” he said against D’s mouth and kissed the man.
