Synopsis: Absolution

Aleksandr Svidersky is four years old when he and his Mother Natayla leave the poverty of their home country, Russia, to find a better life in America. A few short months later, Natayla meets and marries a rich store-owner called Gene Hamilton, with whom she has a daughter named Cecelia.
Sixteen years later, Aleksandr meets the beautiful heiress Jessica Humphrey. The pair fall in love, and pursue a relationship with Jessica’s father’s blessing. However, Jessica soon falls ill and is apparently possessed, speaking of witchcraft and past lives.
The family call in a priest to perform an exorcism; Jessica dies at the hands of Father Valeri, who covers up the murder by saying that the demon killed Jessica while leaving her body.
Aleksandr is devastated, and when his younger sister Cecelia dies from fever, he is pushed over the edge and commits suicide; however he is resurrected and granted immortality by Jessica’s governess, a mysterious woman who goes only by Madame.
Aleksandr continues on his way, living the life of an immortal while trying to discover the truth about Madame; a hundred-and-forty-four years later, Aleksandr meets Nicole Van Der Meer and falls in love again. Everything that he loved about Jessica seems to be present in Nicole as well - but then, Nicole comes down with the same illness Jessica had, and Aleksandr discovers there may be a deeper connection between the two girls than he ever could have imagined.
