Excerpt: Untitled
Mom and Aunt Grace always told me about how sophomore year in high school is the Big Year of Change where some of the boys get taller and their face more angular and where some of the girls get curvier. About how sophomore year is key to one’s mental development and leaves an ever-lasting imprint on everyone. About how it’s the one year I’ll remember most except for senior year. About how sophomore year is the Time of Big Decisions and the year that everyone takes those stupid aptitude tests to see what career suits them best. About how it’s the year that will change me and my classmates forever.
Seems dramatic, right? A bit overbearing?
I thought so, too, until I actually when through it. All throughout my freshman year, I brushed off all of their talk about how I was on my way to paving my future and mapping out the rest of my life. I went into my sophomore year with the same mentality, but when I actually experience it, I actually learned how right they were.
