Synopsis: Luxury of Doubt (title by FriendlyHobo)

In a world where politics are treated as Religion, politicians are High Priests, and money is worshiped as God, Anna is hitting puberty and finds out that she is one of the Chosen who can foresee the future. Naturally, she is flattered and all too happy to join her mother at the Temple... but the more she learns about the power games that are played in the Temple, the less she believes in the impact she can make in this world to change things for the better. For a while, she is numbing herself with cheap entertainment, until she realizes that pop culture is tightly intertwined with these games. And that too many people are avoiding to take responsibility.

In other words: it's social criticism, thinly disguised in a coming-of-age urban fantasy. That thin layer is essentially made of two adopted plots and one adopted character. "Its take your kid into work day, told from the POV of the younger kid (Tween-age, maybe younger) and your character ends up going to work with one of their parents (I was thinking daughter with Dad, but you can do whatever). The kid never really knew what their parent did for a living, just that they went to the office everyday in the morning and came home every day in the afternoon. When the kid get to work though they happen to peer into the cubicals and see these purple swirling portals on the wall/floor next to the Desks. I never figured out were they led to, or what the parentactually DID but I figure this is always a good starting point." (by Viianny)

"The MFC is a seer, in a world where such things are not uncommon. She has to the ability to see possible futures and divine which ones are most likely to come to pass. Usually, the more probable a future, the stronger the vision, and the less probable it is, the fainter the vision. However, when she meets MMC, she fears that she's losing her powers because she starts having visions of what could have been, instead of what is to come. She sees MMC's life as it could have been if he'd followed his dreams instead of caving to his demanding family/societal pressures/whatever you want him to cave to, and starts to fall deeply for the person he might have been- or might secretly still be inside?" Age: Early twenties, late teens.
Personality: White has an... odd view of the world, as well as some odd habits. He always wears white "as protection" and bleached his hair as well. He is convinced that the pixies are coming to get him. He's blocked up every window in his apartment/house with plants trained to grow in a square shape. He also rarely speaks, although that's because he's shy and getting distracted might mean losing his concentration. When he does speak, however, he really tends to ramble!
