Synopsis: She came from the stars
A great war drives the people of earth into the stars.
A thousand years later, a blue collar ice miner named Atilus is surveying a distant asteroid belt when he discovers an ancient derelict ship.
Enticed by the prospect of a lucrative salvage, Atilus explores the vessel only to find something far more alluring, and dangerous; a beautiful human woman named Xoriya, frozen in stasis.
A powerful, bureaucractic goverment rules the known system and heavily regulates the space travel and industry. They want her so they can rebuild the original human genetic code, lost from the necessities of a thousand years of space travel.
A subversive religious order secretly building power wants to worship Xoriya as a semi-deity and use her as a figurehead for their revolution.
Atilus just wants her in his arms.
Warships, railguns, zealots, fascists, charged partical throwing pistols and the cold, unforgiving vacuum of space all stand in his way. He will need every skill and peice of luck he's accumilated in his hard life, to survive and keep Xoriya free from those who would use her.
But something more than mysterious beauty lurks behind her dark eyes. A dark past with links to humanity's darkest hour.
Excerpt: She came from the stars
We were no longer wingless birds soaring magically through the night, but human beings again. Awkward, bipedal creatures traipsing about precariously on a giant ball of dirt floating unassumingly through the night, slowly driving itself over the eons to an inevitable, undeniable, cosmic doom. Just as we were when our race was young.
