Synopsis: My Sweet Orangutan
She had no fear of shadows; her sole idea seemed to be to shun mankind.
-Thomas Hardy, Tess of the d'Urbervilles
Excerpt: My Sweet Orangutan
Those two hollows into the dark were all that was left of the world... She would enter in one and come out the other, only changed. Language was gone. In the distance she heard the howl of a feral dog or cat caught in some excruciating trap. The screech grew louder until it enveloped and became her. She was the howl now, all hair standing on end and soaked in electric blood. She was the only sound left. The screams of the foundation of the universe fell upon her.
