Excerpt: Further Through the Looking Glass*
“Mr. Lane, I don't think you fully understand what this procedure has to offer.” Schwartz said, as I was still carefully examining his office decor. “You will be the first successful recipient of what the Looking Glass has to offer the whole of man kind!”
At this point I had to question the good doctor. “The first? I thought you said this has gone through multiple times with no problems?” Just as I said his, I spotted a newspaper article on the wall, framed, that read German physiologist kills wife in testing.
“That is true, you have proven your point. But this has been tested on animals, and they show now repercussion of the Looking Glass at all. We tried it on a more then willing test subject, and he actually has gone trough the entire process, has come out of the 'false reality' ,as we call it, with no mental or physical issues.” And as he was saying this, the only thing that could cross my mind was How could I possible trust a man who I've only known a totally of 30 minutes. As this crossed my mind, he answered my question. “Mr. Lane, I can see a look of concern on your face. I fully understand tha, and I respect that. Do you have a wife and children, Mr. Lane?”
“Yes....” was all I could muster, not seeing where this question was going to lead, and slightly disturbed as to the possibility of it.
“I'll make you a proposition then. Go home. Talk this over with your wife, take time off work to spend with your child. Then, when you have reached your decision, call this number.” As he said the last line, he grabbed a pen from a cup on his desk, and a business card from his lab coat pocket. “This is my personal phone, and I will be able to deal with your decision much faster. Now, I don't mean to appeared rude, but I must be going. I have other business that I must attend to.”
