Excerpt: Shadow / 929

[honest to goodness typing from the other day, so it sucks, but it's 929 in a nutshell]

I look back down at my cellphone screen and pause. Looking down, I decide that the same text as everyone else just doesn't cut it. I think a bit more and come up with something to send to her.
'what are you doing two years from tomorrow?'
there's a lull where I'm certain she is recieving it and being confused. I look towards the back of the bus then, to see if she is getting it and find that she's in the fort. I make a point not to look back there again. I put my attention on the movie and a few minutes later my phone jingles.
LIVING, UNLESS YOU KNOW SOMETHING I DON'T.
I chuckle at that. My phone jingles again.
WHO IS THIS? she asks.
'ryn, haha. got your number from people on the cool side of the bus'
THE COOL SIDE IS THE SENIOR SIDE
'whatever you say. so, what are you doing?'
SITTING IN A FORT
'not now, in two years'
WHY?
'i figure it could be nice to hang out'
WHY?
'just because it's something to do. it could be fun'
I'LL THINK ABOUT IT
'got a better offer this far in advance ;p'
MAYBE. YOU NEVER KNOW I MIGHT HAVE TO WASH MY HAIR
'if you keep cutting it, it shouldn't take too long to wash'
I'VE BEEN THINKING OF GROWING IT OUT ACTUALLY
'that's a lie'
SO WHAT IF IT IS. HOW WOULD YOU KNOW?
'because short hair just fits you'
HOW WOULD U EVEN COME UP WITH THIS?
