“Yes, I could have left you," she said, "but there was always the possibility you were faking and would come after me. As for shooting you –- I don’t enjoy killing, and if I have to shoot someone I’d rather they were facing me, with their eyes open.”
To her amazement he smiled, the most devastating smile she had ever seen, and made more amazing because he didn’t look as if he did it very often.
“It seems to me we have too much in common to be on opposite sides.”
