Brief Author Bio: Hm...well, I've lived in Oregon my whole life, I was adopted when I was 14 by my dad (who was my stepdad). I have a younger sister, a kitty (who's name is Dahli, and whom is currently curled up in my bed), two dogs, two birds, and two skinks (it's a type of lizard, I SWEAR!!!). Hm...Even when I was in elementary school, I was a good writer and it was my favorite subject, if that matters to anyone (it probably doesn't). I'm one of the top spellers in my district, and I ace grammar tests (it's not my fault that they're incredibly easy!!). I'm in my last half of highschool, and I'm learning to become a nurse, and then I plan to join Doctors without Borders and take my nursing skills with me around the world (I'll still be writing, of course). So...yep. That was my past, present and future, I guess. It's probably really boring, but there you are! |

Synopsis: The Rescuer
Izziah (a.k.a. Izzy) meets this guy (Ezra) while traveling. He tells her that she's destined for to save the world, but she doesn't believe him. So he kidnaps her, of course. For awhile, her main goal is to escape, but then after a bit, she begins to fall in love with him (and yes, her feelings are reciprocated). Then, he has to help her to save the world before it's too late...
So...she stumbles into him (literally) while running away from an attacker. He looks into her eyes, and then looks up at her attacker, who is standing frozen. The minute he makes eye contact with the attacker, the man turns and begins walking in the opposite direction, as though he knows he has lost. She says thanks to him, and turns to leave. He stops her by grabbing her arm and pulling her back. Then, he looks at her hand in a weird way, and asks for her name. She tells him, and then he freezes and his eyes widen. She's not sure what to think until he says something like, "So, it's you." At her blank look, he continues. "You're The Rescuer." "What are you talking about?" She's beginning to think he's crazy. "You're The Rescuer. You're the one God has sent to save us." "Yeah...right. I think I'll just...be going now." She tries to leave again, but he is still holding her arm. "You're meant to save us from The Evil One." "Okay, I don't know what you're talking about, but I don't remember ever offering to save anyone from anything. I just want to go home, it's been a long day." "But if you don't save us, then the world will end!"
He is the leader of the Guardians (or rather, the destroyers of Demons, the race sworn to do everything in their power to protect the race of humans against the Demons). He is right, of course. If she doesn't save them, then the world will not /end/, exactly...but rather, be ruled by darkness, by Satan himself. Right now, the Guardians are badly outnumbered, and somehow, the Demon ranks keep growing and growing. Everyday, thousands of Demons are added, while thousands of Guardians are killed. She has been sent by God (though she doesn't know it) to turn the tables. He will help her to acquire her powers (that she doesn't know she has) and then to learn to use them.

Excerpt: The Rescuer
I woke up to a sense of terror. It wasn’t coming from me, but from Izzy. I pried my eyes open and looked around the room, confused. My headache from yesterday was mostly gone, leaving behind a little residual light and sound sensitivity, and a tiny throb when I moved too quickly. My vision had miraculously cleared overnight, but as I looked around the room, something was different about it. Everything seemed to be in sharper focus. As my eyes found Izzy, I found another thing that was different.
Izzy was standing on the other side of the room, her arms across her chest, looking dishevelled and as though she had just woken up and flung out of bed. Staying in the bed, I rose on one arm and watched her concernedly. “Izzy, what’s wrong?”
She worried her upper teeth over her bottom lip, looking anxious. Saying nothing, she pointed to my groin. Looking down, I saw what was clearly the problem. With Izzy’s brutal treatment before my arrival in her life, of course she would be afraid. I wasn’t exactly helping matters by scaring her as much as I was. I scrubbed a hand down my face, feeling suddenly very embarrassed.
“I’m sorry, Izzy. I—I’m really sorry.” It was all I could say, really. I didn’t know how else to make it up to her other than to tell her how sorry I was. She was still watching me with wide eyes, though she seemed to be trying to convince herself that I was still the Ezra that she had fallen asleep on top of.
It took her a few minutes, during which I didn’t say anything, just willed away the bulge in my pants. When she finally came around, it was most of the way back down. She walked slowly over to me, grabbing my shoulder and guiding me back down onto the bed. I followed willingly, though I wasn’t entirely sure what she had planned.
She leaned forward and kissed me softly. She climbed on top of me as she kissed me again, harder this time. By the time her tongue was in my mouth, and mine in hers, she had straddled my waist and I couldn’t keep it from coming back. I moaned, but it might have been hers, either way the sound was swallowed up in a whirl of tongues, lips and teeth. I stretched up my arms and twined them in her hair, which was soft and, as I blinked…it was blonde!
I rolled on top of her, causing a momentary sense of panic through coarse through her and, in turn, through me. I pulled back, panting and levelling my gaze on her. Her skin was still glowing, just as it had done the last time I saw her, as though there were some kind of light source trapped beneath her skin. As my eyes lingered on her face, I realised that her hair wasn’t just blonde, it was platinum blonde. It was basically white, but it still had the same texture and the same curls as it had had before. I ran my fingers through it again before my eyes caught hers. I don’t know why I hadn’t noticed before, but her eyes had changed, too. Instead of her big, almond-shaped brown eyes, there were big, almond-shaped silver eyes staring back at me. I stroked her cheek as she bit her bottom lip.
I licked my tongue over the seam of her lips. Since she was still biting her lower lip, I sucked it into my mouth, and kissed her again. She moaned, but I kissed her in that moment, stealing her breath and swallowing the sound. She stopped me after a moment or two. I couldn’t figure out what she wanted, so I just watched her silver eyes as they looked me over.
Finally, she spoke. “You like them okay?” I knew she meant her changes. They had come from receiving her powers, which had never happened before, but I suppose that, in this girl, there was a first for everything.
I stroked her hair back, my fingers lingering on her temple. “Yes, I love them.”
She smiled, visibly relieved. “You’ve changed too, you know.” Confused, I sighed and crawled from my position on top of her. I moved over to the mirror and tentatively peeked in at myself. She was right, I had changed. Granted, my changes weren’t nearly as big as hers, just a minor eye-change. Instead of my normal swirling amber, only one of my eyes was it’s typical swirling amber, while the other eye was a kind of mixture of different shades of violet. She came up behind me, putting her hand on my back and her head against my arm. Instinctively, I wrapped my arm around her as I watched our reflections mimic us.
Even in the mirror, we looked like the perfect couple. Our bodies naturally fit perfectly together, and there was a certain glamour to the way my silver hair and two-coloured eyes accented her white hair and silver eyes. It just looked like we simply belonged there, standing the way we were. Everything just felt so magically right.
There was a knock on the door and, as Izzy moved from my side, I yelled for the person to, “Come in.”
The door opened no more than a few centimetres before I heard Gabriel’s voice on the other side, calling, “You two aren’t doing anything gross, are you?”
Izzy and I laughed slightly, both of us blushing. “No, we’re not doing anything, Gabby.” Izzy called, sounding slightly euphoric after her terrifying morning. She surprised me, even, as she called my sister by a name even I didn’t usually call her.
The door opened a little wider before Gabriel’s face appeared around it. When she saw that we were telling the truth, she opened the door all the way and stepped into the room.
