Synopsis: Powers of Balance

Darkness isn't necessarily evil. And Light isn't necessarily good.

Earth is a world that is sandwiched between - and the product of - the two main opposite forces of reality. From the mixing of Light and Darkness was our world born, and into this mixture will it go again...
These powers of balance are normally invisible in our daily lives. They are facts of reality, like the strength of our planet's gravity or the states of matter. Nothing more.

But over the past few years, things have changed. Souls who have not yet been born, the shades who live in a perpetual dream state, have begun to trickle out of the Dark side of reality, seeking a tactile existence and the recognition of the living. And those who have passed on, the specters who spend their afterlives hungry for knowledge as they slowly forget their identities, have started interfering with the affairs of the living.

Following his brother's execution, where he is turned into a shade and his body is handed over to another soul, Thomas O'Keefe's lethargic lifestyle is invaded by the presence of Albert, a specter who is hiding from his own kind for reasons unknown. As these reasons come to light, Tom finds that his brother's death was just a stepping stone to one man's vision of a perfect world... along with the resolution of the conflict that created reality as we know it, and will, in turn, eventually destroy it.
