Synopsis: Coming Home
This will be a paranormal romance.
Aaron has led a hidden life, aiding those in trouble, while maintaining a normal business man's life on the outside until his injury. He used his Wiccan powers to aide a Spanish girl in escaping Mammon's lair in Texas - whom he thought to be a simple drug lord. The girl was killed before ever reaching the border to Mexico (fleeing back home). Aaron just barely avoided the demons at that encounter but just before the Oklahoma state line, Mammon's lackeys caught up with Aaron and almost killed him. Now, he is currently in a wheelchair unable to feel his legs. Doctors don't know why - nerves/muscles look fine. They say it's mental. He knows it's the demon that haunts his dreams, slowing him down. Mammon wants him dead. The demon prince follows slowly, waiting for Aaron to stay in one place longer than a day so he can get a fix and "port" there.
Sara is a nurse that possesses the ability to heal with light/touch (unaware of it). She has been attacked by a patient during therapy and is afraid to help anyone else. She comes to stay with her brother to try and get her life/sense of self back. Her sister-in-law insists on her staying at the cove house. In the process she becomes best friends with Cindy (owner of a local boutique).
Mammon - Demon Prince of tempters (provocation, luring, greed). Can only travel at night, sunlight hurts him. God of materialistic things, values money/things over life. Pissed that Aaron cost him a fine price for the Spanish girl who was killed while fleeing his guards. Means to take it out of his hide. Literally.
Aaron must trust in an emotion he long ago gave up on and Sarah must come to terms with her past in order to find the love that will conquer the demon prince bent on killing them both.
Excerpt: Coming Home
Aaron’s skin stung as he raced through the underbrush, away from danger. How the hell had they been found? They camped outside that small town for only a couple of days yet the demons honed in on them like the pair had worn tracking sensors around their necks.
His eyes were bone dry from the dust and salt of wasted tears in the last few days. They killed that girl like she meant nothing; killed her first to prove a point. She couldn’t have been more than ten years old - the same age as his daughter.
A hollow sob escaped his parched lips as he crashed down another embankment. He landed in a heap at the bottom, too tired to get up. Straining his ears to hear anything, something, he lay very still. It only took a minute for him to hear the laughter of those closely following him, taunting him with a freedom that wasn't really his.
Shit.
He started to push up from the ground to run again but a booted foot shoved him down. Foul breath fanned his face as his tormentor leaned down to whisper, “I think it's time we end this game. Right, amigo?”
