Excerpt: Will of a Wizard

He felt it before it even happened. His mind went dull and fuzzy, almost numb, almost as if it was preparing for what was about to come. The pain flashed in an intense burst, a white light seeming to blind him. The light devoured him and the pain made him want to bash his head against a rock – end his own life – just to make it stop. He doubled over, retching into the dry grass. He heard Vo’s concerned voice as if he were miles away. “Blind me, they should have taken ya already!” He couldn’t make sense of the words and his entire being felt as if it were on fire. And then a black void overtook him.
