Prologue

I blinked my eyes in the bright sunlight. I had no idea where I was or how I managed to get here. I took inventory of my surroundings and came to the conclusion that I was in the middle of a forest. The bright light had a green tinge to it from being filtered through the leaves of the trees. I heard a twig snap behind me and I jumped, startled. I looked around but there was not a living thing in sight. My heart was racing in my chest as I tried to figure a way out of the forest. Then I heard footsteps and could see a small, rustic cabin ahead. The footsteps were getting closer and on impulse I ran as fast as I could toward the small cabin. Just as I reached the door a bloodcurdling scream rang out from the other side of the door, almost two feet away from where I stood. My muscles tensed, my body froze, and them everything went black.
