Brief Author Bio: I'm a graduate school dropout working as a Unitarian Universalist church secretary and social justice community organizer. My life plan was to become a school psychologist, but I became so frustrated with the field of education that I quit the program and opted to be poor -ish and work for two nonprofits that I can believe in. (You know, just until I publish a novel that gets made into a movie and I become a billionaire, of course.) In college, I also broke up with my PhD ivy leage boyfriend of three years and hooked up with the "bad boy" I had been secretly in love with for the past eight years... (make that eleven now...) and we got married in an absurd UU/Buddhist/Pablo Neruda ceremony and are in the process of living happily ever after. We bought a house on sale in Lansing's recession and began fulfilling our rural fantasies by vegetable gardening and installing an old farmers' woodstove to heat our entire house and cook tandoori Indian food. I have a unique view on the concept of "success" and a fascination with risk taking and chaos. |

Synopsis: Sleeping Beauty and the Beast of Vepreskastel
Prince Charming awakens Sleeping Beauty with true love's kiss only to notify her and her mother and household that another royal family has risen to power in the kingdom during the past hundred years. Sleeping Beauty marries her handsome rescuer but finds herself utterly confused about her social position, wifely duties, and life in the new century. Prince Charming finds himself trapped in marriage with an emotional and spoiled young bride with questionable royal status, an overbearing mother-in-law, and unclear duties at home and in the kingdom.
The King of Vepreskastel, himself the victim of a curse that was lifted by true love, sympathizes with the former princess and invites her and her new husband to his wedding celebration.
The King's subjects are fascinated by the century-old princess and quickly grow to love her and her Charming Prince more than the volatile King and his scandalous Queen Bellynda. Tensions grow as the two royal families vie for power while struggling to find happiness in the "ever after."
