Brief Author Bio:

Craig Lancaster is the author of "600 Hours of Edward," a novel released in October by Riverbend Publishing and written largely during NaNoWriMo 2008.

He lives in Billings, Mont., with his wife, Angela, and two rambunctious dachshunds, Bodie and Zula.

Synopsis: Sad Tomato

Alyssa "Tomato" Tomassio, 17, wants more from life than it seems inclined to give her, and she sets out from her small hometown in eastern Montana to find it. In the big city of Billings, she gets more than she bargained for, and her at-loose-ends life intersects with four other lost souls -- Marvin "Alleycat" McLean, an aging former basketball star who patrols the streets at night on his bicycle; Kevin Gilchrist, a newspaper reporter with a spent fuse and a destructive desire to find one last big story; Dave Beeson, a kind-hearted cop with a big problem; and Jeremy Rainwater, who seems intent on stealing Tomato's heart ... and maybe more.

When five lives collide, it's anybody's guess who gets out intact.

Excerpt: Sad Tomato

Tomato ground her back into the wall, straining against the mortar as if she had reason to believe it would give way and let her wriggle out of the path of the raindrops falling into puddles around her. She didn’t actually believe that; a break like that never comes your way, not when it’s really needed. But what were her choices, really? Sit in the rain or try to get out of it, if only incrementally. She dug in again, pushing her heels against the asphalt and shoving backward, and she could feel the rough edge of the brick pierce first her slowly soaking T-shirt and then the skin on the small of her back. She pushed till it hurt too much to push anymore, and then she looked skyward and took a raindrop in the eye. Her reward for looking up for answers, she supposed.
