Synopsis: The Misadventures of Mabel and Maribel
The misadventures of two spirited sisters
Excerpt: The Misadventures of Mabel and Maribel
Meribel just giggled, took Mabel by the hand, Mabel grabbing Howard by the hand and the three of them making a chain as they came into the room. If the outside of Meribel’s house was breathtaking, the game room would have rolled your socks up and down. The table was the same table they had played their Mahjong game on, in fact the whole room was an exact replica of the game room they had had. Andy had set up the game for four players and they each sat down to play. Mahjong was a particularly nice game to play when you wanted time for polite conversation during the game. What made this game especially fun was that this game had been theirs in a prior lifetime a gift to the family from their parents, it had on it’s tiles their family portrait including Meribel’s rabbit “Forester” since she had found it when it was a tiny kindle in the forest that surrounded their house. There were also tiles that had tiny portraits of Mabel’s dolls. Howard could not believe that the sisters had spent a life where Meribel was the tom-boys of the girls and Meribel played with dolls instead of with her nose in a good book. They took turns examining the tiles giggling over hair styles and the moustache of their father. That had been one of their favorite lives. They had stayed close with their family throughout their whole life and both had grown old enough to see their children’s children have children.
