Excerpt: Outro: Way to Normal

Jacob was scuba diving when the world ended. In retrospect, the ocean was the ideal place to be located. He had a mask, a half-hour of oxygen, and was anchored to a large and heavy boat. Or, at least, he could have sworn that he had something attached to the end of his rope. After a quick few seconds of being thrown in one direction, the clasp just freely floated down past him. After five minutes of what seemed like an underwater earthquake, Jacob clumsily pushed himself to the surface to find out that not only was the boat gone, but so was the first mate, the marina, and the entire island.
