After seven hundred years, there were no women left. The last woman on Earth, being in her late hundred twenties - and not particularly attractive - was allowed to pass peacefully in her sleep on April 17th, 3404. Her death, however, did not pass unnoticed.
It set off a spate of alarm and panic, egged on by modern media outlets. It made the front page of every blog in the world. "Last Woman on Earth Dead! Whoever Will Cook Our Dinner?!" cried anguished journalists, in bold, 24-point fonts. After the first week of unadulterated frenzy, a team of the world's top scientists addressed an open forum of world leaders, media representatives, and other dignitaries.
