Synopsis: The Brotherhood of Metal
After 40 years of military rule, the United States is once again a free society, and heavy metal, outlawed by the totalitarian regime, is legal again. Austin Tanner runs a dying record store in the dead-end town of Littlewater, Montana. When the mysterious arrival of an old-guard metalhead from Finland coincides with several strange murders of Littlewater's metalheads, Austin finds himself in a tangled web of intrigue where nothing is as it seems, and the heart and soul of heavy metal may well be at stake.
Excerpt: The Brotherhood of Metal
First, I must decline your generous offer to join the Brotherhood. Brotherhood agents have been begging me to join them for years, but you people are like Jehovah’s Witnesses—you won’t take no for an answer. Second, since I realized you and Austin Tanner were working on the same goal I have (which is to stop the killer), I thought I’d bring you in on my plans. See, I have a plan of my own to stop the killer. In fact I’m going to post it on the site in a few minutes. The whole world will hear about it, and your precious Brotherhood will be caught flat-footed. I do need your help, though. I figure if I give you and Austin a little help, you can serve as my backup. You certainly won’t be able to resist what I’m going to send you, and if on the off chance my own plan fails, you’ll know enough to uncover the killer yourselves.
