Finding Home
an excerpt
And all at once, he saw how foolish he had been. He thought that he was helping cynthia, teaching her to be strong and walk tall. And all the time, she had been teaching him a lesson so important, he didn’t even know he needed to learn it. She had unlocked his heart, releasing him from isolation and showing him what it was to love another human being more than himself, which was something he had never done before. He liked his own company, but suddenly his life seemed empty, and he wept for himself unashamedly until he could cry no more. Then, getting shakily to his feet, he began to walk towards the forest, even though a new vulnerable part of him quaked with fear at the thought, because the darkness was hostile and above all, it did not contain her.
