Synopsis: The Spellcrafter

(Urban Fantasy)

Sierra Montgomery never thought twice about going to work for the Magical Security Agency. All the men in her family, from her brother to her grandfather, were proud Agency employees and anyway, it wasn't like spellcrafters were REAL spies. They just sat around all day crafting spells; no one actually used them. It was like working for General Spells or Ford Spellworks only, you know, patriotic.

Too bad not everyone thinks of it that way....

Excerpt: The Spellcrafter

Sierra struggled with her car keys, trying to get her fingers onto the key fob so she could press the button that would unlock the doors. The grocery bags slid down her arms, handles collecting around her wrists, the plastic digging sharply into her skin. She tried to hurry, to get the car unlocked before she lost all circulation in her hands, but that only seemed to make things worse. Finally, after what felt like forever, she got her thumb onto the right button and heard the satisfying ki-chunk of the car doors unlocking. She fumbled the keys into the palm of her hand, freeing her fingers so that she could catch the edge of the door handle, then looked into her car window and froze.

Laying there on the seat of her car, face up and in full view of anyone who happened to glance down, was her Magical Security Agency ID tag.

Motion caught her attention and she shifted her gaze so that she was looking at the reflection in the window just in time to see the man standing behind her with an upraised baseball bat in his hands.
