Synopsis:
It is a world totally covered in darkness. A mysterious woman wielding an electrical whip and riding an advance crimson motor bike is challenging and killing other's. This seems to be a norm. What is she a part of? Who is she? What is with the lone bridge that leads out of the city? This is a somewhat science fiction story with suspense and very dark undertones.
Excerpt:
Her most recent interview had been with an older man whom she encountered sitting on a bench. Why he’d been sitting there she had no idea. But something inside her compelled her to stop and talk with him.
“I’m looking for someone.”
His wizened, pale eyelids flicked open and her eyes locked with the pale blue orbs looking back at her. “Well, I suppose you’ve found someone then.” A slight smile appeared on his face. She found it uncommonly kind. Especially when surrounded by the darkness.
“I mean someone specific.”
“Of course you did. No one ever just looks for anyone. They always have a someone in mind.”
{That is perhaps of the first truly intelligent things I’ve heard in a long time.}
He took her silence as a cue to continue. “But then, if you had a specific someone in mind, you would be trying to find that specific someone. Which bears in my mind the question: Why are you, who has a someone in mind and is looking specifically for that someone, here asking me about said someone?”
It took her a moment to chew through the various “someones” to arrive at the question he was asking her. “I thought that maybe you would have information to help me find him.”
“Oh! So it is that you’re looking for me.”
“No…”
“Why yes it is! Because what you are truly looking for is not your ‘someone’ but rather you are looking for someone to give you directions to your someone. And thus you have found who you are looking for because you have found someone to help you find your someone!”
If only he could have seen the look of amazement on her face. Instead, all he got from his witty logic was the blank stare of her black visor.
The smile on his face beamed. “Ah the young. But please, you have many questions. Ask. Be filled. I’m all yours.”
She could not help but like the man. He was cheeky but kind. “Why are you here?”
The smile of awaited pleasure changed into a far more sly smile. “That, my dear, is the greatest and most deep of questions that can be asked.”
