Brief Author Bio:

According to Samuel Clemens, "The difference between the almost-right word and the right word is the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning." As a writer, Jocelynn Drake is always in pursuit of the perfect turn of phrase, the one word that will make the reader stop and think about the world she's created, or the world around him or her.

Jocelynn Drake started writing when she was 12. She spent that summer rewriting The Adventures of Robin Hood so that it included a leading female that could hold her own in a fight with the rest of Robin’s band of merry men. That first story was to be the model she would lean on for nearly every story she would work on from there. The backgrounds of the characters would change—the temperaments, the situations—but for her, every story needed a strong female that didn’t mind getting her hands dirty. Sometimes the female character was the main character, while other times she was simply the guide—the Obi-Wan Kenobi to her Luke Skywalker.

Stories are constantly rattling around in Jocelynn's brain—dark tales of failure and triumph with a price, tales of love, and tales of monsters that hide in the shadows searching for the light. With this need to tell stories, Jocelynn Drake pursued a degree in Literature and Journalism at Northern Kentucky University. Unfortunately, finding a job writing about the creepy things that filled her brain wasn’t all that easy. So in an effort to keep food in her stomach and a roof over her head, she fell back on her other interest: Wall Street. For the past seven years, Jocelynn has been a stock market analyst and financial writer for an investment research firm in Cincinnati, Ohio. While an unexpected combination, it easily fits her personality, giving a nice sense of balance.
