Synopsis: The Chronicles Of Secrets: Book One: The Warrior's Secret
In the land of Vladimria things are changing. The king is suspected of going mad since his late wife's death, the poor people are rebelling, and the kings soldiers, and lords, are continuing to become more and more corrupted; from burning entire towns for no apparent reason, to raiding farms in the name of the king; and for his profit.
But in the midst of this chaos there is a boy who has the power to change it all, for better or for worse, though he may not yet know it.
His name is Demetrius, and after he escapes the destruction of his home, and even death itself, he realizes that he is alone in the world, and his family had perished when his home-town was burned.
Demetrius vows to avenge his family's deaths, which is a vow that may bring him to his self-destruction if he is not careful, but when he is distracted on his quest by an old man lying on the side of the road, a little twist comes along in Demetrius' tale.
When Demetrius rescues the old man he is shocked to find that he is not what he seems. And when the disguise is removed the “old man” is really the famed warrior of old…Teirian.
Teirian senses that Demetrius has a good and loyal heart even if he lusts for revenge. And so he takes him under his wing so to speak, and teaches him how to fight with a sword and bow and arrow, and how to travel stealthily, how to determine the weather, and time, how to hunt, and when to fight, all that Demetrius would be a warrior with honor and reputation. And under Teirian’s guidance, and protection, Demetrius flourishes, and grows into a warrior, who is respected and loved by the people.
Unfortunately, after four years have passed, Teirian's strength begins to fail him and within a week he dies, leaving Demetrius, once again alone. But not without a secret he revealed to him.
Just before he dies Teirian tells him of a thing in which all have lost faith, save him. It is the strange belief that a divine being created the world and sent his son to be a prince in northern Vadimria. This prince, as legend goes, scarificed his life for the lives of the people when Vladimria was at war. Because of this self-sacrifice Vladimria was saved and peace was restored although their beloved prince was dead in body. As the story goes on to tell, the prince returns to his Divine father in the skies, and rules alongside him in the invisible realm above. The Father and son, along with the spirit, rule the heavens and the earth, and cause everything to be what it is. Demetrius is intrigued, and he wishes to know more about this strange new belief, so, Teirian, with his dying breath, tells him of a quest which Demetrius must complete if he wishes to know more.
Now that Demetrius, a sixteen year old warrior with no home and no family or friends, is alone again he realizes that he must learn once again to survive on his own in a world where war is brewing.
Forgetting about his quest for the time being, he wants to fight but which side must Demetrius choose? The poor common folk fight for their freedom, but also for revenge. And the King and his men fight for dominion over the world, and the elves remained neutral…For the time being at least.
In the end Demetrius takes the side of the poor because the remembrance of his family renews the passion for revenge in his heart. But there is only one problem, Demetrius has fallen in love with a girl his own age named Karina Stone, who is the sister of his best friend; Azariah Stone. And Karina and her brother both strongly oppose him fighting for the cause of revenge, which they believe is wrong. Demetrius is torn.
As time goes on Demetrius fights for the cause of the poor common folk against the better judgment of Karina and Azariah, and as Demetrius gradually gains the trust and loyalty of the people he eventually becomes their leader. A few weeks later however an old prophet appears in Demetrius’ tent the day before the final battle, and warns Demetrius of his fate, and he also leaves a prophecy telling of his own destruction if does not change his ways…And his heart, and complete the quest that Einar gave him before it is too late.
Will Demetrius discover the Warrior’s secret? Will he complete the quest? Or will he fall into the false belief that revenge will justify his actions?
Meanwhile…Deep within the heart of the Vladimrian forests, the elves are remaining neutral, but they will not last long and so their queen, Brynn, begins to prepare for battle.
As war draws nearer, Brynn’s people are sustained by the hope that the Minotaurs will emerge from hiding, and come to their aid, but the people have forgotten that the Minotaurs fight for no one. But as the people anticipate something that cannot come into being, the fauns and the dwarves have reached an agreement in secrecy. Within the walls of the Gravein Quir a creature is held captive, no one knows what it is or what it can do except the dwarves and the fauns, what they will do with it depends on the elves. But war is only the least of Brynn’s troubles.
Years after her father, and brother’s deaths, a secret about Brynn’s past is unearthed and she finds that her heritage is not what she thinks.
As Vladimria’s skies grow darker with the passing time a spark of hope is lit in the north. Hope is renewed as the Centaurs return from their exile across the sea.
Will the elves aid Demetrius? Or will the stay in hiding until they are killed or driven out? And will Brynn make the right choice? And will she overcome her personal struggle?

Excerpt: The Chronicles Of Secrets: Book One: The Warrior's Secret
Torien walked confidently into the throne room of the king. His valuable information would surely get him a high position in the king’s army….a price he was very willing to pay. Or so he thought.
As he walked he imagined himself seated at the right hand of the king, and giving advice for the next campaign. But for some reason every time he tried to picture this, Demetrius came to mind, and he unwillingly pictured him taking over the throne and sending Torien away. Blast Demetrius! He was always getting in the way of things, and Torien hated him now even more than ever since he stole Karina from him. Torien scowled. Why did Demetrius always try to take over, and lord over him? He had stolen everything from him. Then Torien smiled as he remembered the reason he had come. Demetrius would get what he deserved, oh yes; Demetrius would be paid his full share of misery and pan. Torien would make sure of that. Torien reached the throne where the king was seated. Bowing low he said: “I am honored my lord, that you would allow me into your presence. Honored…”
The king touched Torien’s shoulder with his golden scepter. “Rise Torien Ransom you are welcome here.” Torien did as the king asked, and waited, breathlessly, for the king to begin.
At last the king said: “Now Torien, I understand you came here with some news of extreme importance. It is understandable that would naturally have a price, but before we get down to it I would like to know what exactly your price is.”
“My lord, I would only ask that you would give me a high rank in your army; for perhaps I might be of some use to you there since I have had some experience in military affairs.” Replied Torien, smooth as satin, oh yes, Torien was a flatterer, and good at it too.
The king was silent for a moment, his brow furrowed, and his large fingers were stroking his black beard, he was considering Torien’s proposal, but unsure of whether he was trustworthy or not. To confirm what he believed were Torien’s reasons for coming to him were, he asked: “Torien, I’m curious, what are your reasons for coming to me? You used to be a rebel did you not? How can I know that you aren’t a spy?”The king waited expectantly.
“Indeed my lord, I was once a rebel. But my former leader, Demetrius Archer, betrayed me, and took everything that I had. You, my king, seem far better, and wiser. I would rather work under you as a soldier, so I can avenge myself, then work under Demetrius, and be double crossed, and stabbed in the back.” replied Torien.
“I see.” Said the king, “Well then Torien Ransom, we have an agreement. You will be second to the general of my army, and in return, you will give me the information that I desire.”
Torien smiled. “Very good my lord.” he said, trying hard to conceal his joy. Torien would be a man of great power! Third only to Saber Rhhune, the king’s advisor, and the king himself!
“Now,” said the king. “While I have my royal advisor draw up the contract, you will tell me the important information.”
“Of course my lord, whatever you wish.” replied Torien.
“Well? I’m waiting, what interesting news have you come to share?” said the king impatiently.
“Oh my lord, excuse my inconvenience. Now, I have received intelligence (by many trustworthy means) that you are unaware of the location of Demetrius’ army, hidden fortress, and the status of his forces, is that not so?” replied Torien, he couldn’t help the small self satisfied smile on his face. If only Demetrius knew what he was about to do! He was bringing about the downfall of Demetrius’ army, and getting his revenge all at once, killing two ravens with one stone you might say. Oh, Torien was a clever one.
The king shifted into a more comfortable position in his throne. “Yes that is so,” he replied, “It is true that we have no idea where his army is. If you know where it is however, I would be very grateful to you if you would share your knowledge, and enlighten me on this dark subject.”
Torien smiled. “I do my lord. If you would ask one of your servants to bring in a map I would gladly show you the locations of anything you wish regarding Demetrius Archer, and his allies. And I will chart it for you so you will have a layout of everything”
The king nodded to a servant standing nearby, and he ran from the room and returned with large map. The servant set it on a table in front of the throne, and humbly backed away and returned to his usual corner to await the next request. The king stood up and ascended the small flight of stairs leading down from the throne, and went over to the table.“Now, show me the locations.” He said pointing at the map.
“Yes my lord,” was Torien’s reply. He walked over to the table and stood astride the king. Glancing sideways, Torien realized something he hadn’t noticed before. The king, who was over a foot taller than Torien, and a giant of a man, had no crown to signify his rule. This roused Torien’s curiosity, since kings were not allowed to come before his subjects without his crown resting on his head. Torien ignored this however, after a brief moment of indecision. He had decided that it would be unwise to ask the king the question that was eating away at him; since he didn’t want to lose the kings seemingly high esteem….Or his life. The king had been known to execute his servants for accidentally tipping his wineglass, and spilling its contents; a severe punishment that Torien didn’t want to risk.
“Now, my lord” Torien began, taking the quill and ink from a servant. “Demetrius keeps his main forces in one central area, here.” He said pointing to the part of the map labeled “West Faeldonea Caves”. “His guards and his messengers are spread out here, here, and here.” He pointed to places labeled “Eastern Faeldon” “Cirith Armora” “The Mountains of Amran”. The king looked at the places Torien had pointed to and hummed. “Very good spots, I must say. I had though this Demetrius Archer was a fool until now, but apparently he isn’t as stupid as one would expect. The spots he has chosen for his strongholds are very well concealed, and have many vantage points. It will be very difficult to infiltrate his army, and defeat him.”
