Synopsis: What We Know

Quantum Physicists have predicted that an adjacent universe is about to collide with ours, flooding both with new matter from the resulting singularity. This catastrophic event is going to occur very, very soon. Sentient races all over the universe attempt to cope with the imminent destruction, through wanton debauchery, religious movements, and widespread panic. The United Sentient Species elects Captain James K. Hind to attempt a long and dangerous mission to open a tunnel to an alternate history, in the hopes that they can begin to evacuate to a new universe.

Excerpt: What We Know

“Award-winning Quantum Physicist Richard Sting explains 120 technology.” A short, balding, pasty white Human with large, round eyeglasses stands in front of a chalkboard covered in complex algorithms.

“Well, you see, the number 120 doesn't actually matter at all,” Sting laughs. “It stands for Infinitely Close to 0, or I to O... 120. Now, as we all know, matter can never travel faster than the speed of light, or, in truth, even at the speed of light. But, for Captain Hind to tunnel to the 5th dimension, he's going to have to surpass the speed of light. The Tunneler can do that,” Sting brings his hands very close together while scrunching up his face. “But only if he's already extremely close to the speed of light.”

“Similarly,” he relaxes, “for him to transcend the third, and simultaneously the fourth, dimension, he's going to have to have a mass of less than zero. Impossible, right? Well, the Tunneler can do that too, but only if he's Infinitely close to Zero mass. That's why the Awakening has been designed with 120 physics in mind. He hasn't broken the laws of physics yet, but he's close. He's like a ghost.”
