Excerpt: Dead Reckoning

When Flint took her that night she closed her eyes and imagined he was Captain Vane. She stood before Flint in the soft light of the lantern and while he removed her clothes until she was naked before him, she thought of Vane. As he caressed her breasts and sucked at her nipples and ran his hands over her back and buttocks she felt Vane’s hands and mouth. She conjured his scent and when Flint entered her, she felt Vane within her and nearly whispered his name in her ecstasy. Her body ached with her fantasy and as she fell asleep to the gentle rocking of the ship she thought of Vane and hoped she would dream of him.
