Excerpt: Dream a Little Dream

“In my own little corner, in my own little chair, I can be whatever ever I want to be.” The words rang out in her head, but it had been years since she’d actually sung them. Cinderella, a fairy tale, had been her favorite story as a child. She remembered not the Disney movie version, but the musical with the songs by Rogers and Hammerstein. While life changed and she grew older, the message of the song was clear; no one can steal your dreams. Nor can you hide from them forever.
