Synopsis: Stations of the Cross
In the year 2010 of the Philippine Republic, tragedy descended upon the country when its President--a few days shy before the end of her term--was felled by unknown assailants at the Presidential Palace where she resided with her husband and nephew, Nicholas. The curious circumstances surrounding the attack and subsequent investigation ended with little inquiry, no leads, and no arrests. His family name shamed and denounced by his own country, all that was left for Nicholas was either endure the blatant glances and murmured whispers or to disappear completely. Only barely legal at the time, his decisions would end up shaping his destiny and his country.
After all, there are only two requirements to qualify for the Presidency: to be a legal citizen and to of legal age.

Karl Marx had popularized the idea of the Synthesis. It is wherein for the society to transition into a new form of government, an event he called the Synthesis would have to transpire between the Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat members of society. Nicholas had to scoff at the notion. There arose no war of the two different social classes. No thesis, no antithesis, and most definitely no synthesis. There was only Juan Ponce Enrile.
Weeks after Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s death would have been a complete blur to most people. The social breakdown that swiftly followed after the assassination was caused by widespread civil hysteria and even more so as the government attempted to contain the apparent deterioration of order through increasingly repressive and inept measures. There was one thing worse than having those in power lose control: the actions and decisions taken in a desperate attempt to regain it.
Nicholas sipped in his bottle of Red Horse. "Mindanao is my ticket here."
