Excerpt: Army Child

"Don't try to make me sound like the bad person here." I raised my hands to my chest. "I—" He cut me off with a kiss. His hands firmly grasped my face as his lips smashed mine. I took my arms away from my chest and put my arms around his neck, kissing him back. This was the dream I had wanted. This is the dream lost behind the clouds in the rainy sky. This is what I needed. He let go of me, and I loosened my arms.
"I guess I was wrong. I guess there are some things you do need in life," I whispered softly to him.
"That's my girl," he whispered back, sealing it with a kiss.
