Smoke and Water
an excerpt

Katherine crashed through the brush blindly. She thought she heard something big crashing behind her.
“Oh God!” What ever it is is gaining on me.” She staggered on. Katherine kept going. At least it was all downhill. She smiled as the thought came to her. Yeah all down hill that’s a good one. At least it took her mind off the direness of the situation for a second or two. Suddenly Katherine realized she did not hear any one running except herself. She slid to a stop against a tree and leaned against it.
Maybe she should keep going, maybe she told herself that is a really good idea.
