Prologue

“Through out history there are examples of people fearing that which is different. If they do not understand it or if they feel it threatens their way of life. I suppose that is how the Parabolic Curve of Infinite Light gained so many supporters. People were afraid. They had to right to be, I guess. Most of us were not born in this country, or our immediate ancestors were not at least. They moved here, like my own parents had before I was born, because it was a peaceful area back then.

I guess they thought that we were not supposed to be there. Not every one felt that way of course. But some did. You could always feel it hanging in the air, that feeling that some one did not want you in their town. Some felt that we should not exist at all. It was always saddening, but the rest of the people made up for it in a way by being very welcoming of our kind.

And then the dark times started, and more people started fearing us. It was a dangerous time, a sad time. One could hardly know who to trust. It was frightening, for both sides. So many lost their lives, their family members, and their friends. I understand that fear, it held me in its grasp for the longest time.

What I do not understand is why there needed to be so much blood shed, so much fighting. Or rather, why the fighting had to start. It was mind less, so many innocent people lost their lives then.

I do not suppose that any of my questions will ever be answered. But I still wonder. Why did they have to start it all?”
