“Why do we fight men?”, said Anna just as the ground shook violently.
Jerry was rather shocked and desperately wanted to answer the question but the earth tremor demanded immediate attention. They were driving down the road in the derelict city. The sun shone benignly on the endangered city. The entire city across the whole of the valley was moving around, different parts of the city in different directions. The buildings swayed to and fro. They were driving in the one remaining jeep that had some petrol. Anna and Jerry in the back with Lorraine and Cherie in the front. The ground you violently to the left, and then back again to the right.

The jeep swerved to a halt. Lorraine, the driver, was unable to keep a straight line with the road moving underneath it. A nearby building, a modest office block of a few storeys high, after several decades of neglect, collapsed to the ground.

“We are better in the open”, said Jerry, there's not much we can do but wait it out. She led them to an intersection. A crack appeared in a road, up ahead and started to wend its way towards them. The four of them muddled together in the middle of the road. Anna, the youngest, and her arm round Cheri and Jerry. Lorraine was also holding on to both Cheri and Cherie on the other side. And though fairly touchy-feely, Anna didn't normally hug. These women. There are not her age, all of them being in their 40s, whereas Anna was in her 20s. And naturally wanted to sleep with women in their 20s. It was well known that she had been approached by Lorraine but rebuffed her. Unlike most of the other women her age she didn't sleep around or join in the orgies. This caused the women to talk, but the general consensus was she would settle down. One day. Perhaps she was the old-fashioned type, who only wanted one woman.

“Over here!”, yelled Jerry and ran down a side street. The old buildings, not tended for 50 years or more, could not survive easily an earthquake of this magnitude. A McDonald's restaurant on their left, its sign long since fallen down, finally gave in and collapsed. They remained in the middle of the road, buildings collapsing all around them. In the distance they could see a skyscraper, once a proud monument to the financial centre collapse.

A door burst open, on the back of an old truck. Paint tins fell out the back and started to roll down the hill. The shop on their left shook him burst it is one remaining shopfront window and spray glass all over the road towards the group of four huddled women.
In spite of the turmoil around them. Jerry is still managed to say , “Anna we fight men because they cause all the problems in the world”.

Jerry thinking to herself she will have to straighten up and fly right. With that kind of attitude, she could cause trouble. She might even think it's possible to have peace with men. Anna was just about becoming a woman , and Jerry thought she might even lead the Fs one day.

Jerry forcibly added “Anyway, they are Mals, not men. Don't use their old-fashioned term.”

She had to wise up fast thought Jerry. A few dealings with the Mals would soon wise her up. That's why Jerry had bought her along today, to make sure she knew the enemy. Seeing Mals close up at the prisoner exchange Anna would see what they were truly like.

Anna couldn't see how the Mals had caused the earthquake, of that she was sure Jerry meant well but she was given to such sweeping statements
