Synopsis: Norah's Ark

Norah and her daughter are made homeless by the 22nd Century energy crisis. Their denizens of their minor city embrace the barbarian philosphy that might makes right. When Norah's daughter is kidnapped and murdered, Norah becomes a merciless automaton, blindly seeking to survive no matter what the cost, without even understanding why she wants to live. But when Norah finds someone who needs her as much as her daughter did, she finds herself changing. Can she be humane and still survive in an emerging apocalypse? Is it worth living without your humanity?

Excerpt: Norah's Ark

His heart sped up, thumping heavily in his chest. He looked around him. There was no one. He recalled a Twilight Zone episode where a man on a military expedition found himself in an abandoned town. His paranoia destroyed him after only a few hours. David could already feel the same weakness in his mind, the same proclivity for doubting the observable- the sane. He closed his eyes, forcing himself trust his environment, to commit to reality. He breathed deeply that way for a long time, the darkness extending around him infinitely, his heart slowing, resolving himself to whatever fate he might have elicited. David opened his eyes. Nothing had changed.
