Deus ex Machina
an excerpt

“That wasn’t what you told me before” Sergei Mototski growled. “You didn’t mention anything about any problems”.

Dr.Hugo Chavez looked out the window of his office,, which was filled with various kinds of computers and network equipment, all with busily . _There’s something fishy about this guy_ he thought _Better be careful_. He replied measurably “You’re the first person that I’ve ever assimilated into the engine. It’s alpha software, and there are bound to be bugs”.

Morotski looked at him coolly, and Chavez could swear that the temperature in the room dropped several degrees. “I suppose I have an expectation when I pay someone five million dollars to do a job, they will do it competently”.
“I’m not done” replied Chavez, feeling increasing nervous. This whole thing’s been very strange he thought Who pays millions of dollars in order to beta test software? “This kind of software almost never works the first time” he said “The assimilator…can only execute a specific set of queries. That means that in order to get certain features, I will have to manually add them to the database”
“Very well” said Morotski “Carry on then”
