Brief Author Bio: Tried to go or something different this year but I just can't break away from fantasy right now. There's only one idea that lights my fire and so I'm going to go crawling back to it... Sorry Mainstream...maybe next year. |

Synopsis: An Amber Spell
It has been years since the noble-born thief Jean Rodin stole a magical artifact known as the Butterfly Amber and released the spirit within it into the land of Valehaven. Years since magic returned to that kingdom, tensions eased within the country's borders and mages, scholars and the nobility settled into harmony once again.
Years, along with all that happened, that Nicolette Ettore and her twin sister discovered that they were not the daughters of the nobleman they had always called Father, but a high-ranking thief who had been their mother's lover for years.
Years, since that day, that Nicolette has grown from a shy, naive child into a young woman of power with nothing now but her family, her magic and her mother's name. Her sister enjoys the new freedom that being stripped of noble blood has offered them. Nicole would have preferred that things remain normal. Now she knows only that she was a mistake, that her power of being able to communicate with plants is seen as odd but useless, and if she wants a place in the world, she must carve it for herself.
One man has offered her such a place, a mysterious man who appears to her on the autumn Solstice with an offer for her to help him with a great vision: to create more magical spirits using to curious power of the northern substance, amber. It is a project worthy of a great sorceress, worthy of her her power, of an Ettore. In order to help him, she must journey to Istria, the land of her elven, Ettore ancestors. She must master her power in new and dangerously thrilling ways she had never dreamed she could.
She must discover, soon, whether the man who has given her this glorious new vision of life and such an awesome challenge is all he pretends to be.
