Roguish Times
an excerpt
Stoella Carter was a thief, a rogue, or a scallawag, depending on your ideal word for that job.. She would be offended if you called her one to her face though. She was an expert or an artisan but never a thief. She never took money directly from people’s pockets or homes. They gave her their money, in a perfectly willing and cheerful way. The remorse was not her fault. It never was. She just had a persuasive personality.
Currently, sat in the cold and damp room and glanced out the gated window to the world beyond. The sun was not yet up and she really didn’t want to be awake but she didn’t want to be here even more than that. This was not according to plan at all. Then again, a lot of her plans did not go how they were meant to, it’s the problem of being on the wrong side of the law. Sometimes experience and skill is not enough.
It was such a great plan. She thought out every minor detail that would come up. It accounted for the mayor the mayor’s wife, the mayor's cousins, siblings, and friends, and the rest of his family, except for one. She had not planned on his former best friend that just happened to be visiting town during the last part of her plan.
As she sat in the poorly lit room, she ran her hands through her long auburn hair. She lived partly by her appearance and normally took great care of it. Not being able to made her feel strange to say the least. If only all of her charms would have kept her out of this.
