Big Fun, in Somerville, Massachusetts, is divided into three parts. There’s the arcade, way off to the left, clanging and banging in its 1-Up cacophony. All old-school video games here, check it out: Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Space Invaders, even Asteroids. The Pong machine sits near the back by the bathrooms, broken for years but still well-revered and much-loved. It sits smugly , tolerating the constant roiling stench of urine as it holds sway over all, watching with its dead, baleful screen, all its answers hidden in the Cyclopean blackness.
