The Mission
an excerpt
She cried as she saw his hand reach hers. She was trying so hard to touch his hand for she could know that she would be safe. ‘How much longer can I survive’ she thought to herself. The tears began pouring out of her eyes while falling onto her shoulders forming somewhat of a puddle. She saw the pieces of metal that lay upon her legs and every time she tried to move them pain began shooting through her back. She screamed in agony and stopped reaching for his hand. Laying her head back, her breath was beginning to shorten. It was very dark where she was laying and the only source of light was where his hand was sticking in. Everything in her body was beginning to feel pain and all she wanted to do was go to sleep. The sound of his voice screaming for her to reach his hand, was beginning to fade away ever so quickly. She knew something bad was happening to her, and it was all coming so quickly that she barely had time to realize anything that just happened. An arm suddenly wrapped around her wrist and began to pull her upwards. The pain she was feeling in her legs had worsened. Her bones felt as though they were being forced out of her skin. The feeling of anything was lost and the arm that she could see was now beginning to turn black. The light was beginning to come closer and when she saw his face clearly, she completely blacked out.
