Synopsis: Sheep Bite Back
YA Contemporary paranormal fantasy
It's the first day of school again and Ana is still in bed. No, she's not skipping, she's just homeschooled. Tired of getting up at 5 or 6 am for the long ride from her family's sheep ranch to school, Ana has enrolled in a correspondence course. But this year isn't as quiet as she envisioned. A cute boy she met at the library has roped her into his personal research project. On vampires. Jonathan's suspicion that his parents work for vampires is getting harder and harder not to believe.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, more and more lambs are being lost to predators. There have always been a few wolves and coyotes in Western Montana, but this is excessive. Ana also wonders why her friend Rodrigo, a young Brazilian shepherd who worked for her father, quit so suddenly last year. How could he leave his brother and sheep herding partner? Ana hopes to find a way to ask him what's wrong.
Ana and Jonathan's curiosity is getting results. But these creatures of the night don't take kindly to humans digging up their secrets. With powers of hypnosis, and secrets to hide, Karl, Sean and Lavinia will do whatever it takes to stay alive, er, undead. The more Ana sees of them, the more she struggles to think clearly. But Ana has never needed clarity more in her life, or been in such danger of losing it.
