Synopsis: A Dorm Room Summoning

The Salem Institute, with its historic campus at 13 Lantern Jack Road, is one of the world’s premier universities for the magical community – specifically those who have a penchant for summonings although the Faculties of Evocation and Vampiric Anthropology are gaining ground quickly. For generations the blood purity taboos have been maintained without question, the witches stay with their own, the fey marry only amongst the fey and the wolves, well they never liked to stray as much as the others anyway. Only the vampires never cared about bloodlines. Times are changing however and Cassidy Moon is a Junior, damnit. The youngest daughter of an ancient and well loved magical family Cassidy has long been a campus darling, adored by alumni and students alike.

She has never been adored with quite the intensity that Rome, the future Wolf King, shows her. As the crown prince of the perpetually furry Rome has never bothered with what other people have to say about what he does and what’s more he loves her. For Cassidy the world is looking up, a handsome, powerful man loves her with the intensity of Shakespearean tragedy and her roommate – one Magpie Castiel – is back from a year’s worth of playing Wizard of Earthsea as she hunted down her own, personal demon. Now if only students with a history of summoning demons didn’t keep turning up dead the year might be the best one yet. It seems as if Murphy Damrosch, a fellow student-with-a-secret, may not be the only one to take an interest in Magpie and her much speculated upon history of near fatally successful demon summonings. One of the very best witches of her day when it comes to summoning demons – whether she likes it or not – Magpie might just be the next victim to fall.

The body count is mounting, finals are closing in and the reaction to Rome and Cassidy’s ever growing love affair is anything but positive. Things come to a head, however, when Cassidy fails to turn up for a date with her king-to-be of a boyfriend, leaving Magpie and the boys in a race against the clock to figure out just who has Cassidy and if they can get her back alive at all. Against a back drop of murder, speculation and secrets Cassidy and Rome’s love is the starting point for a revolution which will change the very nature of their society.

And they still have to pass their finals.
