I did this particular peice late at night... I blame all errors/lameness on that lol

“You shouldn’t be up here.” Said a quiet whisper from behind me. I jumped, and spun around. It was the man from the party, looking past me into the room where the man and woman were. He looked me in the eyes and I felt the dizzying sensation of being overwhelmed again, this time by the pure sorrow in his gaze. I felt tears come to my eyes. The still working, unmesmerised part of my brain thought “the mage”. Then, with horrific clarity, I recalled the vision, the unbidden thoughts about the woman- so beautiful. Something worked in my throat and I reached out, not thinking, and rested my hand on the man’s arm. He looked down, slowly, and blinked as though startled. I pulled my arm away, the moment broken when he looked away.
“You shouldn’t be up here.” He said again. “Go back downstairs.”
I nodded mutely, and turned towards the stairs again. I opened the door and walked voluntarily back into my prison. I heard the key click in the lock behind me and the strange fuzziness in my brain vanished with a snap.
“What?” I said, out loud.
“back so soon?” Kallan said, dryly. I turned around and tried the knob again, in vain.
“I was escaping!” I said, nearly in tears. “I was and then I came back!” My brain clicked the pieces together. “oh shit, the mage!” I yelled, furious. I started hitting my fists up against the door. “Damn him, the mage!”
I heard the stairs creaking behind me and Kallan took hold of both my wrists from behind me. I am not very small, for a girl, but I had no chance of prying my arms free from Kallan, who I now realized stood at least a head taller than me and was a lot stronger.
“Have you gone insane?” He whispered in my ear. “Don’t hit the door!”
“let me go.” I said, trying fruitlessly to shake my arms loose.
“You’ll bring them down on both of us! Idiot, you should be glad the mage- who ever that is- did catch you, not the other one!”
“I’m not glad!” I shouted.
“Stop shouting!” he said fiercely.
“I won’t!” I shouted again, acting like a small child. He moved both my wrists to one hand and covered my mouth with his other one.
“I don’t care whether you want to be beaten,” he hissed, “but I’m not letting you bring that man down here because he’ll only take it out on me!”
I bit him. He pulled his hand away sharply, cursing, and I pulled one of my hands away. I turned and hit him in the face as hard as I could. I was angry, and I couldn’t hit our captors so I hit him instead. He reeled back, but recovered himself quickly, without even loosening his grip on my other arm. He put his free hand around my waist and, snarling, pulled me off my feet and hauled me down the stairs. I remember an odd moment of clarity, that perhaps Kallan had a temper that rivaled my own. I was already tired- not so angry anymore, but I still kicked him as he took me down the stairs like I was a barrel, or something. He threw me down onto the floor, bruising every bone in my body. I hit my head of the hard dirt and saw stars for a few moments, dazed. But Kallan was still angry. He bent to my right, down, one knee on my left thigh to keep me from kicking him, both hands pinning my arms to the ground. I could only see his shadow but I started to have the faintest glimmerings of regret that I had provoked him. The pressure of his leg on mine was hurting me.
“If you want to try a stupid stunt like that you put your own skin on the line.” He said, harshly, spitting his words at me. His face was not a foot above mine but I couldn’t see anything but his dark shape. I was afraid of him, of what he was capable of. “But don’t bring him down here so he can beat me again.” He hissed. I stared, wide eyed, trying to see him in the dark. He sighed, and I felt the hold on my wrists loosen. Then he rolled off of me to my right and lay there, silent. I was just as happy to remain silent, breathing a little too quickly. I tried to slow down my heart rate so that he wouldn’t know that, just then, in the dark, he terrified me.
