an excerpt
Rushing down winding streets filled with normal people going about their normal lives, he could only imagine what they must think of someone like him being thrust into the middle of their homes. True, the new neighbors need never know what he and his were up to around here, but their mere presence would probably go down about as well as a raw apple swallowed whole.
Stopping at last after three swift rights, a left and a creaky old iron gate, he patted down the long wisps of electric blue hair that had been blown out of place by the wind and check the flowers he had bought, ensuring that they had actually survived the harried journey. Checking furtively to make sure that no old man snuck out for a smoke or curious toddler was watching, he tugged the sapphire in his right ear lobe and whistled a single swooping note. Beginning subtly at first, then growing ever brighter, a golden sheen seeped from the grimy old stone wall.
It arched sharply over head, the grey rock almost rippling with the desire to cast off the glamour it wore and go back to the simple countenance it had worn for eons. The illusion broke and a modest curved doorway appeared, the opening a pitch black maw in the dim half light. Landen ducked in quickly. The glamour folded itself back over the passage of its own accord, and save those inside already, no one was the wiser.
