Synopsis: Such Stuff as Dreams Are Made On
We are such stuff as dreams are made on, rounded with a little sleep.
--The Tempest, William Shakespeare
Dreams can take us odd places.
Excerpt: Such Stuff as Dreams Are Made On
We walked the last few metres together, side by side, in reverent silence of the bright light after two days in darkness. The gap was small between the trees, so Charlie slipped through ahead of me, then turned to welcome me forward.
'The world,' he told me, sweeping one arm expansively out to take in the sprawling fields, the high mountains, the dying sunset and palace glittering redly in the distance. It's spires reached up to the sky like glittering icicles, cutting through the low clouds streaming over the city that seemed little more than a dark pool of shadow at its feet.
'Wow.' I was impressed. Somehow, I hadn't expected the world to be so big. I thought it would be like walking the distance to work, perhaps. Maybe a little further. It hadn't occurred to me that what I would actually be doing was walking the distance to France.
