Synopsis: Blind Man's Bluff/Respect for the Dead

Olivia Riposo, five years old, precocious and spoiled, is sent on a camping vacation with her parents, Salvatore and Shoshana, in 1951. She usually lives with her grandparents, ("Rosie" Rosengarten, a City Councillor who is an artist/sign painter and Sara, a dress store owner). Instead of a camping vacation, her parents take her to a farm where the men disappear for card games. And then she is taken to Saratoga, where she becomes nearly invisible to the adults. The only person who seems to notice her is a semi-blind Italian violinist, Frankie Terrone, who also seems to know too much about her family. Sal, Olivia's father, is on a winning streak and Shoshana, her mother, thinks it may be time to settle down. Tony Riposo, Sal's father, has ideas of his own. Sal thinks he can handle moving to Reno and working for his father along with fatherhood. Shoshana is more realistic. When Sal decides they will grab Olivia and head out to Nevada, Shoshana has to call in favours to get Olivia back to Canada and the safety and stability that Rosie and Sara can provide. Olivia learns a few family secrets and who she can really trust.
