Synopsis: End of the Sun parts 1 and 2
I'm totally cheating and working on my novel from 2005 (winner, but didn't finish) and it's sequel from 2006 (loser, and didn't finish). Why? Because they inspired me. And because the thought of having a third unfinished novel hovering over me is not a happy one.
Excerpt: End of the Sun parts 1 and 2
Something new I wrote for part 2:
"Well, you know, the thing about that is..."
Kiran paused for a moment. He took a breath to ease his discomfort. It didn't help. he opened his mouth to continue.
"Look," he said. "After the Dawn, I think we all just sort of expected the world to go back the way it was. Popel would be more or less happy again, business would resume, technology would ramp back up. We thought they'd make movies and games and we'd all watch the Super Bowl and eat Doritos or whatever. And, yeah, that happened. Most of it.
"But we should have know. I, especially, should have known. You can't change the world and expect things to be the same. You can never put things back together in just the same way they were. It doesn't work for us as individuals. It certainly couldn't work for the whole planet. Some fundamental shit was called into question. There was no turning back from that."
