Synopsis:

On Earth, there are those few humans who can handle the world in ways that might seem impossible to those around them. Reading minds, controlling the elements, healing injuries that would otherwise take weeks to disappear. Long ago these special people learned to keep their heads down. The Spanish Inquisition, the Salem Witch Hunts; these things taught people to keep their talents secret, creating a subculture that under-runs not only American culture but many of the world's cultures. In places, these people are still more accepted, but as modernity creeps into these havens for the gifted, it gets increasingly harder to keep abilities hidden.

The trio of meteors that crashed to earth one late summer night saw the beginning of the end, in some ways. In others, it was the start of something none of the gifted could have foreseen.
