Come Write In: Independent Bookstores
The Office of Letters and Light loves books. We love them so much that we encourage kids, teens and adults all over the world to write a book every November during National Novel Writing Month! And we are taking this noveling mission to independent bookstores around the world with our project Come Write In!: Independent Bookstores.
Participating bookstores in the US, Canada, and abroad are opening their doors to local November novelists, and helping us build a relationship between local writers and their book-loving neighbors! Bookstores will receive a customizable press release, a free Come Write In! kit, (complete with a poster, window cling, and bookmarks!) and the adoration of our participants and supporters. Here’s a look at last year’s Come Write In kit!

If you work in a bookstore and would like to participate, please fill out this form. Please note that we are no longer able to send Come Write In kits for 2011, but you’ll be added to the list of participating bookstores and will be the first to know about the 2012 kits!
Here’s a list of suggested books to display for your event.
Your region may have a Municipal Liaison, a volunteer dedicated to organizing events in your area and monitoring your regional forum. To find out if there’s a Municipal Liaison (ML) near you, see the list here. They’ll appreciate hearing from you, and it may be the beginning of a mutually beneficial partnership. As partners, you might coordinate events, share write-in space, and/or have your events listed on your region’s official calendar.
