All right... so who's excited? (Other than me, I mean...) Who are you all, where are you at, and, most importantly, who wants to get together?

"Being a writer is a very peculiar sort of a job: it's always you versus a blank sheet of paper (or a blank screen) and quite often the blank piece of paper wins." – Neil Gaiman

I'm around. In Moscow, that is. And I'm game for a meeting if there are other participants in the area.

I'm from the Post Falls area. I more likely than not will be able to make it to meetings. It all depends on my schedule.

I know I'm excited, at least! Particularly since this is my third time around. It only feels like yesterday that I was doing this for the first time... Geeze.
Anyway, I'm from the little town of St. Maries, but I hang out with the Coeur d' Alene Wrimos! As to the rest of you, nice to meet you!

I'm originally from Idaho Falls, but I'm off to college in Caldwell-
This is my first Wrimo- I heard about it around December of last year and have been looking forward to it ever since!

I'm from Moscow too. Wow, there's only five of you so far and I'm in the same little town as Syaffolee. (Hello, experienced neighbor!)
I heard about this a few months ago and came to read the website. I read the NaNoWriMo history and immediately looked for the Sign-up button. And today it finally appeared. So yeah, I AM EXCITED!!!
I went from: "This is crazy, only geniuses write novels... and it takes years."
to this: "I know I'm crazy, but I'm gonna write a novel in a month!"

This is year three for me and I have big plans *evil grin* NaNoWriMo is entirely too addictive :-P
*waves to Zapkilikan* Hi, Zap! Glad to see you're back again :-D

I'm here. I'm determined to change my username, which I had done this summer but it got lost in the reset, so I may have to set up a new account - just to give fair warning.
Great to see others from the Moscow area, I'm in Troy but I'm game for a meeting or three.

Where are all the Pocatello writers? Or am I alone down here this year?

Hi, I'm Kara, and I'm in Pocatello. I just barely signed up and not really sure if I'm going to do this. The thought terrifies me, but I always thought it would be neat to write a book even though I am a terrible writer, and this might be just the thing to get me going because it doesn't really matter if I'm a good writer.

Kara, a rough draft is almost always horrible writing, you smooth it out in the editing process. But the Nano is about writing a rough draft, so don't worry about the dreck, just write. And remember what Nora Roberts says, "I can't fix a blank page."
This is so true! So write your heart out, you can let you brain in on the deal later, after you've finished the rough draft.
I'm a old hand the Nano, and at the whole process of writing, in fact the first novel I wrote for the Nano was nearly bought by a publisher this past year, so if you want any help, I'm here.
Just email me at FaithfullSpirit2@aol.com.
BTW, do you want to get together for a kick-off party? Especially if we can find more people in our area?
Faith

A kick-off party would be fun :) The more I think about this, the more I think I'm going to do it, but I'm still thinking I'm nuts for even wanting to try lol.

Even though I actually live in Pullman, WA, I'm still a Vandal (....it's complicated), so I guess I'm at least half Idahoan, still.
So hey. I'm pre-heated-death! I pretty much live at UI (Moscow) for a little less than half a week (12 hours of classes almost every day is kind of tough....), so I know that most of my novel this year will be brainbarfed across the border.
I've met Sya at last year's Kick-off-Party for Pullman -- so hey there! I can't make either Moscow or Pullman's KoP this year -- and I probably won't be able to make the write-ins, either....
I blame teaching (if anyone ever tries to get you into undergraduate teaching for nonmajor labs, tell them no. Vehemently.).
Anyway, guys! Let's do our best (Or something)!

pre-heated-death: Hi! I totally understand about the teaching (I have to TA a lab this semester as well). The lab preparation just kills me--it's pretty much half the week gone right there.
